Reflections of 2018

We are not the firsts to write a post on the year that is coming to a close and we certainly will not be the last but we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the 2018.

This year brought up and downs as most years do. We are grateful for all of the fun and adventures we have had. Our biggest event of 2018 has to be our big move. Leaving San Jose to move to Pacifica has been an exciting change.

After experiencing the selling of one house and purchasing another proved to be more stressful, actually moving didn’t seem that terrible. We made so many trips to and from each home for about a week. We lived in boxes for about a month but it has been well worth it. Our motives to move were simple; to be closer to family and to be in a great school district.

Our family celebrated Nathan’s fourth birthday this year at Disneyland. A surprise for him we had been planning well before our move. Although the drive was long the memories of the trip will last forever. The pure joy and excitement he constantly had made every moment more precious. It was Brynn’s first time visiting Disneyland and we don’t think she will remember any of it, we believe she enjoyed it too.

Brynn turned one this year and shortly before her birthday, she was walking. Since then she began walking she has been unstoppable. She continues to be our fierce, strong, sweet and beautiful girl. We have been so lucky to have two little ones that although at times challenging, they are pretty awesome kids.

We took our first weekend away this year. Together, we have never left either kids for more than a night. We were invited to a wedding in southern California and it was such a beautiful wedding. Its simple elegance and quirky vibe all came together with the love between the couple and their families. It made us remember why we got married and spark a love for each other we had forgotten was there. Clearly we needed the trip. It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day life that we don’t put each other first.

We leave 2018 excited for the new year. We hope it will bring fun, great memories, woodworking, home renovations and much more excitement!

Cheers and Happy New Year,

The Doughertys
